Another Visit, Another Ultrasound

Today was quite the day. Three appointments. Three different buildings. And me and you, buddy were flyin' solo.

It was the first time going over to the hospital without Daddy or Grandma by my side. Lucky for me though, you are an excellent side kick. We actually had a pretty amazing day.

Our first stop was the Banner Community Clinic in Mesa. This place should be called, "The Magical World of Miracles" though. Seriously, I felt like unicorns should have been prancing about.

Let me back track. We found out this month after 3 appeals and lots of tears that Zavier will not have insurance until January next year. HR denied that he get coverage because of missing paperwork that was due before the 30 day deadline after he was born. So our special needs son, the only one in the family who actually needs insurance, can't have it. (Insert mad/sad/sick emoji's here). 

We weren't sure what to do for a while but after talking to an angel in his neurosurgery department, we found out about this clinic. A completely FREE clinic, affiliated with Banner (where his specialists are), that gave out referrals to see these specials for only a measly 5 dollars! So originally it would have been about six hundred dollars to just see Dr. Tian. Well after getting this referral, it was only 5 to see her! Amazing. 

Also, the doctor that we saw at this clinic was the most amazing woman! She seriously should have been wearing fairy wings. Not only was she the sweetest thing but she told us that we could and should just have all of his check ups there until January because they would be free. She also told us that he could get all of his immunizations there for free. 

Oh, and she also said that it looked like he needed some sort of surgery on his penis and gave me another referral to see a pediatric urologist at banner. This meant that the appointment to see the urologist would now only be 5 dollars as well! 

She also WALKED ME OUT TO MY CAR! 

I am telling you, we had the most amazing experience there. It just felt like it was too good to be true the entire time. Oh, and for the record, Zave was amazing the whole time. He swooned quite the number of nurses and doctors too.

Anyways, after that appointment, we headed over to Cardon's to get his head ultrasound. This was now his 4th one.  

So we felt like pros this time around. However, even though we were smooth sailing, the techs were not lol.

His fontanel was found to be closing and so they had a hard time getting full images.  They even had to call another tech in. I was worried for a little bit that he might have to get an MRI instead, but they assured us at the end that it should be good enough for the neurosurgeon today. They did say though, that this was definitely his last head ultrasound. 

Not the best news but not really bad news either.

So after that, it was on to the next appointment with Dr. Tian. I like her more and more. I am so glad that she is his neuro. It's a really good match. AND she had really good results! She said no signs of hydro at all and that there was no change. She said this was a really strong indication that he will not ever need to get a shunt now. I was thrilled and called Jimmy immediately and I swear you could literally hear him smile. We are just so happy and thankful that Zavier is doing so good! 

And we don't have to go back until October! Though she did say that because his fontanel is closing, we will have to get an MRI sometime early next year and he will need to be put under anesthesia for it but most likely not this year. 

Oh and for the record again, Zavier was wonderful for both the ultrasound and his appointment with Dr. Tian. He was actually really cute during the ultrasound because he would keep smiling and smiling. He also kept trying to grab the technician.
