What Am I Doing at Two?

TWO YEARS OLD!!

Lexi is the most active, daring, and strong willed child that I have ever met. Yet she is also the most shy, most sweet, and the most brilliant.

She is obsessed with climbing, jumping, and falling. She will now, not stand on the table and jump to the couch, but will stand on the couch and fall till her hands hit the table and so her body is half on the table and half on the couch. She just laughs as her body makes that fall and rejoices as she climbs the rest of the way over, safe to the other side. And then of course, she will do it again & again. This is just one example of her daring side.

Every sink, bookshelf, counter, bed, desk, table, and couch in our home have been climbed and explored by her (including the washer and dryer). Several times now we have went into her room when she should be sleeping and she is on top of her bookshelf. Every time we go to Jake's or Bret's, she tries to climb something new... It is so exhilarating to her to climb new heights.

She also loves to dig, run, play, and ride her cars outside. She would live out there if she could.

She continues to fight a WAR for something that she wants. And most of the time it is always the same: Bedtime. This girl just does not want to sleep. EVER. For a week or two at a time, I don't think she gives in, but only rests to make the next week that much more brutal of a fight. Every week is unpredictable.

She still to this day hates to be left alone in Nursery and clings to my very skin when a stranger gets too close. Even when her friends come over to play or when we go somewhere else (we usually have two playdates a week!), she sits on my lap for almost the entire time.

At home, if she is not climbing, playing with Mommy or Daddy, or having a snack/juice watching "Boots", she is being a sweet sweet mommy of her own to her dolls and stuffed animals. This still is one of my most favorite things to watch. She will dress them, feed them, sing to them, change their diaper, push them in the stroller, put them to bed, and my favorite, discipline them. She will now put a baby in bed, turn on the nightlight, turn off the main light, close the door, wait a couple seconds and then go in yelling, "No baby, no baby!". It is obvious it is her rendition of what happens with her at night.

Though, I promise, we do not just go in yelling, "No baby, no baby!" =)

She also is a very very sweet sister to Izaac.

And Lexi really is brilliant. She is always thinking, planning, and processing. And she catches on to something so quickly. Like potty training! At home she is a pro. She only wears underwear.

It really only took a week.

She can play her own shows on the Xbox, put her dishes in the sink, clean up messes for real, and obey so many directions (if she isn't being a stink!)

She is also figuring out how to try and "trick" mommy. For instance, at bed time, asking for a tissue, water, juice, baby powder (which she absolutely loves on her bottom), or another book, only to put of bed time a little longer.

And she is also speaking so so well. Now... because she is so shy, she does not do this in front of others. But at home, she is saying so many sentences. I love that everyday our communication gets better. And I just LOVE when she figures out and tries to say a new word. Yesterday it was 'work". Instead of pointing to the door when I asked where Daddy was, she said "work". =)
