Together

As Izaac continues to get older, I think it's probably safe to say that, there may be someone who notices his tiny changes and accomplishments on a daily, or sometimes even on an hourly basis, rather than me, his mother. 

This person is our dear Lexi. 

I can't even begin to express the joy this makes me feel. Because not only does Lexi notice everything about her brother, but she rejoices in his milestones, big or small, as much as him and I. 

And it is so unifying and significant to all of us. This past month Izaac is trying so hard to do so many things with his body. He is just at that age where you can tell, they just want to explode with movement! He clearly understands that he is in control of what he can do, it's just a matter of doing it now....

So all of us, every day, are celebrating these small steps he makes. Sitting up for a minute longer. Getting across that rug a second faster. Eating more cheerios than dropping them. And it is so rewarding as a mother to not only see him ecstatic at his progress, but of his sister's excitement for him as well. 

It is also so amazing to see how much more Lexi wants to play with Izaac each day. She can see that he is growing and learning. And I think this helps her realize that he isn't just a baby but someone she can play with. They have played so much more together this month. 

Meaning, that Lexi will give him the same toys that she is playing with, tell him what to say on the phone, insist that he "cmon cmon!" and follow her, show him how to color, crawl, clap, or dance, and "help" him build legos.

And not only is she playing with him more but for the past couple weeks, she will not let me put him to bed without giving him hugs and kisses (I am being completely serious) and she also says each time, "Love you baby, goodnight". She also lays his pajamas out for him each night, with a diaper, soothes him when he is crying, and often asks us to "take him" (meaning to just hold him)... even though he really is almost as big as she is. 

She is developing such a strong love for him and it is just the most incredible and touching thing to see. He is a lucky little boy to have such a loving sister. It makes me so happy and proud!
