Lake Side Surprise!

K, so another thing on the kids list (getting sick of this introduction yet?? lol) was going out on Jacob's boat as well as camping. 

Luckily, their Uncle Jacob told them heck yes and not only that but we planned to go over to a lake we've never been to, Lake Roosevelt, the third week in June when Jimmy was off work.  We were going to camp, fish, and boat around! 

WELL...this would have happened to be during mom's birthday. So naturally this meant that mom and dad were going to come with!

WELL... lol a couple weeks before. Not even two weeks or something before... Jacob and Cari showed up at our door, lap top in hand ready for a major discussion. 

Turns out Jacob thought that camping at Lake Roosevelt for mom's 65th birthday was a terrible idea. He said it would be super hot and mom wouldn't enjoy it. He said he didn't realize it was going to be her birthday and suggested that we do something else for her. I thought this was so incredibly nice of him and instantly got excited, especially because he was saying words like beach and vacation lol.

Uhhh yes please =)

Anyways, long story kind of short.... We ended up talking to Tommy who said that if we went somewhere that wasn't more than about 4 hours away, they could come too! And then we talked to Bret as well who said that they were going to already be in Lakeside that week which just happened to be 4 hours away from Tom!

I instantly got teary thinking about all the kids being together for mom's birthday. If anyone deserves something like this it was her. And if she would want anything, it would just be having us all together.

So Lakeside it was. And after lots and lots of phone calls Jacob and Cari booked a cabin for all of us to stay for two nights. They really are the most generous people.

And the best part... mom had no idea! It was going to be a complete surprise! I get giddy just thinking about it. All we told her, was that we were going to go to Lakeside instead of Lake Roosevelt now because it was cooler up there.

AND it was such a fun trip! Just pulling into the driveway of the cabin was exciting and the kids went flipping nuts running through the house and all around outside. The weather was also perfect. 

The first night, we had good food, good conversation, and played some games. Oh, and the kids went in the hot tub!

And then the next day, Tom and Holly showed up and surprised mom (who kind of knew at this point hahaha) but it was still so fun. They came right before we left for this mini golfing place.

That too was fun! Jake and Cari gave everyone tickets and cards with money for food and tokens on them (again, so freaking generous) and so everyone just got to go around having all sorts of fun.

It was awesome being all together. Though we did miss Bret's family. They had some other things going on that day.

Luckily, Bret got to join us later that night for singing and cake for mom. I made her a boston cream cake per her request... which honestly I thought tasted terrible LOL but the smile on her face when we were singing, made nothing else matter.

I am so thankful that we got to do this. What a fun couple days and what an amazing memory singing together for mom. How I love her.

The next day, before we all split, we went over to a small lake/park area. It was cute. The kids fed the ducks and tried to catch weird critters in the water. It was fun to see them all together. 

I love my family. Thank you so much Jacob and Cari for letting us do this. We had an amazing time.
